Newport Beach, Ca.  dates back centuries and was identified by two entrepreneurs James Irvine and James McFadden back in 1854. From there it grew into a coastal oasis and was incorporated in 1906. It is located in the coastal center of Orange County with Los Angeles County to the north and San Diego County to the south. It has an estimated population of over 88,000 residents but when summer hits, the population can grow upward of 100,000+ with daily tourist coming into the area.

Newport Beach is known for its luxury residents, modern shopping mall, and professional business community and along with the quality school system. It surrounds Newport Bay where approximately 4,300 boats of all types are docked with the 21-square mile harbor. The eight miles of ocean beach offer residents and tourist exceptional recreational opportunities with fishing, swimming, surfing as well, hiking and other sports activities.

The community is broken into 8 unique neighborhoods or also known as villages. They include:

· Balboa Peninsula
· Lido Maria Village
· Mariner’s Mile
· Balboa Island
· Corona Del Mar
· Newport Center/Fashion Island
· Newport Coast
· Islands of Newport Harbor

Besides the wonderful coastline, Newport Beach is also known for hosting a number annual events that are popular with both residents and tourist. Starting early in the New Year, The Newport Beach Restaurant Association hosts its popular Restaurant Week. As spring approaches, the City is home to the Newport Beach International Film Festival, the start of Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race, and the Toshiba Classic. For those looking for a good workout, the city streets accommodate thousands of runners and walkers for the Corona del Mar Scenic 5K and the Orange County Marathon.

Summertime brings the community together with a variety of events inlcuding the annual Balboa Island Parade and the City’s outstanding lineup of summer camps. As the months get warmer, Newport Beach hosts its annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration at Mariners Park. When the sun sets on the Fourth of July, the Dunes Waterfront Resort hosts the City’s fireworks display. In late July and August, don’t miss the City’s free concerts or Shakespeare in the Park events throughout the community.

Each September, thousands flock to Fashion Island for the Susan J. Komen Race for the Cure  Finally towards the end of the year and for the holidays, there’s the world renowned Christmas Boat Parade in Newport Harbor and the Corona del Mar Christmas Walk.

We hope this gives those looking to maybe make Newport Beach home a taste of what the community is like.  Of course the beaches and lifestyle are amazing but the community feel it has throughout is what makes it a great place to call home.
